what is belief in malaikah
angels- accepted by all Muslims and 1 of 6 articles of faith for sunni.
made from divine light with no free will to serve allah and communicate messages
examples of angels
jibril-archangel brings message of allah to prophets. told mary she would have jesus.
izra’il- angel of death, ends life by grasping soul and taking final breath
mika’il- guardian to heaven, controls weather and seasons
israfil- blows trumpet twice on day of judgement: to announce end of time and day of ressurection and judgement
what is predestination
al-qadr= 6 articles of faith for sunni Muslims. belief nothing can happen unless allah has planned it. allah decided everything you will do. shia muslims don’t believe in pre destination, allah chose to give us free will to judge us on judgement day

what is day of judgement
accepted by all muslims- righteous sent to paradise unrighteous to hell. but allah is merciful and even bad person may enter paradise after being punished
what is barzakh
dont go immediatly to heaven or hell. their soul will stay in barzakh(between heaven and Earth) where will be tested by 2 angels on who is your lord. this continues until day of judgement
what are the 5 pillars of sunni islam
shahadah- no god but allah and mohammad prophet\ salah- prayer sawm- fast zakah- giving money hajj- pilgrimage
what is shahadah
declaration of faith- foundation of other 4. without faith other pillars meaningless.
what is salah
prayer- sunni muslims pray 5 times a day
shia pray 3 times
what is qibla
direction muslims face for prayer- towards makkah
what is ablution (wudu)
wash before prayer symbolise spiritual cleanliness.
what is friday prayer (jummah)
male muslims expected to attend mosque for midday prayers on friday. this is where imam will give a sermon (khutub)
what is sawm
fasting- shows submission to allah, emphasise with the poor, unites the ummah
muslims fast during daylight hours- food, drink, sex, banned

what is zakah
2.5 percent- purifies soul avoids greed.
money given to charity.

20 percent of muslim income donated to charities and religious leaders

voluntary money given along with compulsary
what did allah tell ibrahim to do
ibrahim leaft his child. their food ran out. she prayed and ishmael put foot in ground and water came. ibrahim returned and built a shrine called ka’aba.
how is hajj performed

animal- as ibrahim willing to sacrifice his son for allah.
what is id-ul-fitr
festival end of ramadan- thank god for helping them through fasting.
giving them qur’an for guidance
what is important about id-ul-fitr
public holiday. zakah payed at this time.
what is id-ul-adha
festival of sacrifice on final day of hajj. sacrifice a goat as ibrahim willing to sacrifice son for allah

shia festival celebrate appointment of ali as successor to muhammad.

muhammad said it should be day of fasting. voluntary.
