omnipotent- all powerful

omnibenevolent- all loving
eternal- never beginning and never ending
transcendent- beyond the physical world
immanent- within the world, incarnate as jesus
forgiving- forgave our sins as dying on cross as jesus
personal- he interacts with us, prayer build relationship
monotheistic- belief in 1 God, 10 commandments forbids believing in other gods
judge- decide who will enter hell and heaven
what is the holy trinity
god as the father, god as the son, god as the holy spirit
what are the approaches to the trinity
all christians believe in 1 eternal god. analogy of ice, steam and water. all same substance just different forms
what is genesis 1
man and woman created at same time after animals, created in gods image
what is genesis 2
man created first then animals with woman as a companion. god creates man from dust and women from mans rib. man dominant over animals and women is a helper
what do the creation stories show
god as the creator. holy spirit acts as the agent of god
different christian approaches to creation story
fundementalists protestant- bible of word of god without error, therefore both are true
liberal christians- bible contains some human errors and stories contradict each other. not literally true- show deeper meanings about god and the role of humans
what is genesis 3
fall of mankind- eat from the forbidden tree original sin
what is st augustine theory
all people born in sin as passed down from adam and eve as we are all offspring of adam and eve
what is john 1
in the beginning was the word, the word was god
god is unknowable
christ existed before he became incarnate
what is problem of evil and suffering
is god all powerful, loving etc why would he allow evil, therefore all loving all powerful god doesnt exist
what are 2 types of evil
moral evil- murder
natural evil- volcanoes
arguments against problem of evil
god allowed suffering for benefit of humanity
god made perfect world, ruined by adam and eve passed down
humans created similiar to god but not perfect therefore evil

what is agape love
unconditional love- all people should be loved equally
importance of sermon on the mount
peace- forgive others
avoid violence
lords prayer
not follow eye for an eye
sermon on the mount relationships
adultery- should not even look at a woman lustfully
some christians believe jesus allows divorce- in case of adultery

what is incarnation
god in human flesh- jesus
what is the crucifixation
the way jesus was executed- was a ransom, price to save humanity from sin. after sacrifice jesus and god are reconciled.
what do the bread and wine represent
bread- body of jesus
wine- blood of jesus
eucharist remembers this
what is resurrection
jesus coming back to life after death- god omnipotent
what is ascension
rising up to heaven. jesus rose to heaven after resuection as he is eternal, now seated at the right hand of god
what is salvation
restoring relationship between man and god- sends jesus to get rid of sin
what is atonement
god in christ reconciles himself to the world- jesus sacrifice, meant god and humanity no longer separated
