Five Pillars of Islam

A

Daily Prayer: prayer five times a day, dawn, midday, midafternoon, sunset and nightfall (prayer includes cleansing with water, hands, feet and face, prostration towards Mecca)
Almsgiving: 2.5-10% of one’s income
Fasting: during month of Ramadan, no eating, drinking, smoking or sexual relations during the daytime hours (belief is that Allah will forgive the sins of those who complete the fast)
Pilgrimage (hajj): Every Muslim is expected to make a pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in their lifetime. (visit the Zamzam well, the Ka’ba, sacrifice a sheep or goat on the 10th day & visit Medina)
