What are the side effects of iron?
A
GI upset
Nausea
epigastric pain
constipation
diarrhoea
Black stool

What are the warnings for iron?
A
Oral iron may exacerbate bowel symptoms in intestinal disease

What drugs can interact with iron?
A
calcium, levothyroxine and bisphosphonates can have reduced absorption due to iron
Should be taken at least 2 hours after oral iron
