What is a Light Gate?
A
A light gate sends a beam of light from one side of the gate to a detector when an object passes the beam of light is interrupted and a datalogger measures the duration.

Why are light gates used?
A
Light gates are used to create a more accurate time value making subsequent calculations from the result of the experiment more accurate having less uncertainty.
