Investigating Density Flashcards
How would you find density for a regular block?
I would measure length, width and height then X them all together to get volume. I would measure mass by weighing the block on a scale. I would then do mass % volume to get density.
How would you find the density of an irregular solid?
By measuring the volume of the rock using a displacement can. I would lower the rock into the displacement can with the measuring cylinder underneath the displacement can’s spout and measure the volume of water that ends up in the measuring cylinder as the volume of the water displaced is equal to the volume of the solid.
How would I find the density of water.
By pouring different amounts of water into a measuring cylinder and putting the measuring cylinder on a scale to find the mass and volume.
