Q

What is the Clarity Compass?

A
  1. Defines what Chronicles data will be extracted into which Clarity tables and columns.
  2. Defines the structure of your Clarity Tables, including primary keys.
  3. The Clarity Compass is used to set the definitions for how Chronicles items will translate into Clarity.
  4. It is used to define the structure of your Clarity tables.

Q

Clarity columns can extract four types of data. What are they?

A

Clarity columns can:

  1. Extract data from a single Chronicles item
  2. Extract data from multiple Chronicles items
  3. Extract data not stored in a Chronicles item
  4. Extract calculated data

Q

In the Clarity Compass, why would you see an empty grid in the Chronicles Info section of the Column tab?

A

You will generally see an empty grid in one of two cases:

  1. The column extracts data not stored in a Chronicles item.
  2. The column extracts calculated data.

Q

Does Clarity use the same data types as Chronicles?

A

No. When the Clarity ETL process transforms the data into a relational format, it also converts the data into standard datatypes used by relational databases (the ANSI standard).

16
Q

What three table attributes, found in the chips, will be valuable for business intelligence developers?

A
  1. Type of Database Object
  2. Load Frequency
  3. Master File

(Aug. 2021, 3.10)

17
Q

What information can be found in the Overview section of the Summary tab?

A
  • Organization specific table notes provided by your ETL administrator
  • Chips that describe different table attributes
  • Grouped tables

(Aug. 2021, 3.10)

18
Q

When are grouped tables created?

A

Grouped tables are created when an original table has enough columns to warrant splitting it into different tables.

The general naming structure would have the grouped tables include a suffix of _2, _3 etc.

You can think of grouped tables as extension tables.

(Aug. 2021, 3.10)

19
Q

Do grouped tables have a unique primary key?

A

No. Grouped tables have the same primary key and the same number of rows.

(Aug. 2021, 3.10)

20
Q

What does the Columns section of the Clarity Compass provide?

A

The Columns section lists out key information about the column found in the database object.

(Aug. 2021, 3.10)

21
Q

What can you find in the Dependencies section of the Summary tab?

A

The dependencies section lists out the database objects that are dependent on the table you are looking at.

(Aug. 2021, 3.11)

22
Q

Does the Dependencies section include Caboodle database objects that extract data from this Clarity table?

A

Yes

Aug. 2021, 3.11

23
Q

What section in the Summary tab lists the indexed columns within the database object?

A

The Indexes section.

Aug. 2021, 3.11

24
Q

Why would you use an indexed column?

A

Using indexed columns as filters in a query can:

  1. Improve performance
  2. Speed up the query

(Aug. 2021, 3.11)

25
Q

What happens to the column name when the column extracts from a Chronicles item with a data type of category?

A

_C will be added to the column name.

Example: PATIENT.STATE_C

(Aug. 2021, 3.14)

26
Q

Where does the category value stored in each row of an _C column come from?

A

Each row of an _C column stores a category value from a category list.

(Aug. 2021, 3.14)

27
Q

How would you translate category values into names?

A

Join to a table with the prefix ZC_.
