Q

What are the four steps you will typically perform upon receiving a report request?

A
  1. Identity the data elements you will need for the report.
  2. Find the INI + Item numbers of the data points to use on the report.
  3. Use the INI + Items numbers to find the appropriate Clarity tables and columns.
  4. Join the Clarity tables together using the correct foreign key information.

16
Q

Define Contact Serial Number (CSN)?

A

A Contact Serial Number (CSN) uniquely identifies a contact within a master file.

(Aug. 2021, 2.9)

17
Q

Which column(s) in Clarity can contain NULL values?

A

Any column that is not a primary key can contain NULL values. Even foreign keys may be NULL.

(Aug. 2021, 2.11)

18
Q

What are three reasons a NULL might exist in Clarity?

A
  1. Not all fields are populated in Chronicles
  2. ETL data cleansing deletes incorrectly formatted data
  3. A column may no longer extract data because it is deprecated

(Aug. 2021, 2.11)

19
Q

What does the Item Editor show?

A

The Item Editor shows the definitions of a Chronicles item.

Aug. 2021, 2.11

20
Q

What are the three ways to open the Item Editor?

A
  1. Click on an item in the Record Viewer.
  2. Chart Search (Ctrl + Spacebar)
  3. The Item Editor symbol (star) in Hyperspace

(Aug. 2021, 2.12)

21
Q

Does the Category section of the Item Editor provide a complete category value list?

A

No. The Item Editor is limited to the first 100 category values.

(Aug. 2021, 2.12)

22
Q

What does the Release Range in the Item Editor describe?

A

The category values that are released by Epic and cannot be changed.

(Aug. 2021, 2.12)

23
Q

What does an Add Type determine?

A

It determines whether an item’s value is stored on each contact, or direct to the record.

(Aug. 2021, 2.17)

24
Q

List the Add Types.

A
  1. No-add
  2. Response Each Time
  3. Lookback

(Aug. 2021, 2.18)

25
Q

Define the Add Type, No-Add.

A

No-Add items store data directly on a record, not a specific contact. The value of a no-add item should be considered true for all contacts on that record.

For example, a patient’s date of birth is a no-add item, and you can assume that no matter how many contacts the patient has, his date of birth is the same. If a No-Add item is changed, the old value is replaced.

(Aug. 2021, 2.18)

26
Q

What Add Type is considered unknown if an item is blank for a certain contact?

A

If a response each time item is blank for a certain contact, it is considered unknown.

(Aug. 2021, 2.18)

27
Q

Define Response Each Time?

A

Response each time items store values separately on each of a record’s contacts.

For example, if a patient’s blood pressure is not collected during a certain visit to the doctor, you cannot assume that it has not changed since the last time the patient’s blood pressure was taken.

(Aug. 2021, 2.18)

28
Q

Define Lookback.

A

Lookback items store values separately on each contact, but assume that the last value entered remains true until a new value is entered.

For example, the system automatically enters a patient’s age on each contact, but only if their age is different from the last time the patient was seen.

(Aug. 2021, 2.18)

29
Q

What add types may collectively be referred to as overtime add types?

A
  1. Response Each Time
  2. Lookback
Because both items store data on the contact.

(Aug. 2021, 2.18)

30
Q

What does an item’s Response Type determine?

A

An item’s Response Type determines how many lines of data an item can hold.

For example, at any one time, a patient has only one date of birth, but can have multiple symptoms, or a multi-line address.

(Aug. 2021, 2.18)

31
Q

Define the Response Type, Single Response.

A

Only one line of data can be stored per contact.

Aug. 2021, 2.19

32
Q

Define the Response Type, Multiple Response.

A

Multiple lines of data can be stored per contact.

These lines might be discrete pieces of data, such as multiple symptoms, or they might be multiple lines of block text, such as an address.

(Aug. 2021, 2.19)

33
Q

Define the Response Type, Related Group.

A

Multiple lines of data can be stored per contact, and each one of these lines is related to a line in another item.

These lines might refer to a list of relatives’ names and their phone numbers.

(Aug. 2021, 2.19)

34
Q

What response types may collectively be referred to as multiple response types?

A
  1. Multiple Response
  2. Related Group

Because both items store more than one type of data.

(Aug. 2021, 2.19)
