Anterior - foregut
Middle- midgut

What is found in the foregut?
Mouth, buccal cavity, pharynx, esophagus, crop.
What occurs in the foregut?
Food uptake, ingestion.
What occurs in the buccal cavity?
Food enters the canal
What occurs in the pharynx?
Aid in the process of swallowing, serves as pathway for moving food into the esophagus.
What occurs in the esophagus? and where is it found?
Connection between the pharynx and the crop. Foregut.
What occurs in the crop? And where is it found?
Storage of food before it is digested. Foregut.
What is found in the midgut?
The stomach, digestive diverticulum, and the intestine.
What occurs in the midgut?
Digestion and absorption.
What is the purpose of the stomach?
Break down foods using gastric juices, churns food through muscle contractions, absorbs proteins and vitamins.
What is the purpose of the intestine?
Absorption of nutrients
What is found in the hind-gut?
The rectum and anus.
What is the purpose of the hind-gut?
Indigestible residue and excretory products get released to the outside.
