Background context Franken
My chosen extracts are from volume 3 chapter 7 of Frankenstein written by Mary Shelley and illustrated by Gris Grimly which depicts the ramifications of Frankenstein’s inherent desire for vengeance following the death of his loved ones.
Background context Anti
My second extract is a poem on page 97 starting on line 1242 from the playwright Antigone by Sophocles, which depicts Creon reflecting on the consequences brought about by his desire for power.
Thesis p1
Within Frankenstein the ramifications of desire are conveyed through bodily imagery and specific religious allusion which is emphasised through abjection.,
Thesis p2
Whereas in Antigone the use of both physical language and religious imagery portrays how the spirit becomes corrupted by an inherent desire as a result of greed, causing one to be affected both physically and emotionally.
