Introduction to Statistics Flashcards
What do you not write?
“The results / data are significant”
What do you write?
The calculated test statistic is greater than the critical value at P=0.05
We can reject the null hypothesis and accept the alternative hypothesis
that there’s a significant ->
difference between the observed and expected results = Chi-squared
correlation between both variables = correlation coefficient
difference between the means - Student’s t-Test
What do you need to know?
when and why to use each statistic test (i.e. chi-squared, correlation, etc)
What is the Chi-squared test?
compares the differences between the observed and expected results
What is the Correlation coefficient?
tests the strength of correlation between two variables
What is the Student’s t-test?
compares the difference between the means of two sets of data
