What is the definition of attachment?
A cose emotional bond between two people, characterised by mutal affection and a desire to maintain proximity.
What is reciprocity?
Interactions between caregiver and infant involving mutal responsivness. Individuals communicate signals which elicit responses in the other .
What is an example of reciprocity?
Baby cries and mother soothes.
What is interactionall synchrony?
Interactions between infant and caregiver are ‘sychronised’ so that responses reflect each other.
What is an example of interactional synchrony?
Infant smiles so parent smiles back and toddler talks and caregiver listens.
What four behaviours did Maccoby identify are key behaviours that show attachment?
