What is the difference between Center of gravity and Center of mass?
COG: Point of application of the resultant of gravitational forces
COM: Defined as the theoretical point in relation to which the mass of this body is uniformly distributed
What is base of support?
Refers to the area beneath an object or person that includes every point of contact that the object or person makes with the supporting surface.
These points of contact may be body parts (e.g., feet or hands) or may include things like crutches or the chair a person is sitting in
What is erect bipedal stance? And its disadvantages.
Erect bipedal stance allows persons to use their upper extremities for the performance of large and small motor tasks.
Disadvantages:
- Increases the work of the heart
- Places increased stress on the vertebral column, pelvis, and lower extremities
- Reduces stability
