The systematic study of government and politics in different countries designed to better understand them by comparing and contrasting
Concept
a term, idea or category (democracy)
Conception
manner in which something is understood or interpreted (democracies as self government or something else)

the institutions and offices through which societies are govt

the process by which decisions, laws and policies are made
Politics
A collective activity occurring between people. Involves making decisions on matters affecting two or more people typically for course of action or resolve disagreements.

the capacity to bring about intended effects; influence; forceful modes of influence such as threatening
state
unit containing a population within a defined territory and enjoying recognition by its residents and other states of its right to rule that territory
Authority
right to rule; creates own power as long as people accept that the person in authority has the right to make decisions
Legitimacy
state or quality of being legitimate; system based on authority and those subject to its rule recognize its right to make decisions
Ideology
a system of connected beliefs, a shared view of the world, a blueprint for how politics and economics and society should be structured
