What is the definition of disorder
A functional abnormality, disturbance
What is mental disorder?
Psychiatric illness or disease whose manifestations are by behavioral or psychological impairment of function
What is reality testing
Ability to differentiate between external & internal world
What is neurosis?
Mental disorde(mild mental illness) reality testing intact
What is psychosis
Loss of reality testing, impairment of mental functioning
Characteristics of psychosis?
Delusion, hallucination, confusion impaired memory, illusion, impaired reality testing.
What is consciousness?
State of awareness, response to external stimuli
What is clouding of consciousness?
Disturbance of consciousness, where patient is not fully awake, alert & oriented
What is drowsiness?
State of impaired awareness associated with a desire or inclination to sleep. Note: patient is “awake” but will fall asleep without sensory stimulation.
What is confusion?
Disturbance of consciousness, disordered orientation in relation to time, place, or person.
