Introduction Flashcards
Although most arguments for the existence of God are ? ? arguments, there’s also an argument which claims that God’s existence can be demonstrated simply through reasoning. This is the ? argument.
A posteriori.
Ontological.
The ? argument claims that by thinking logically, we can deduce that there must be a God. God has to exist because it’s his ? to exist.
Ontological.
Nature.
Supporters of the Ontological argument claim that God exists by definition in the same way; ? is a defining characteristic of God, and God can’t possibly be ?-?
Existent.
Non-existent.
Variations of the ? argument have been put forward by ? in the 11th Century and ? in the 17th Century. Some agree that the unique way in which God exists makes his non-existence impossible, while others suggest that there are ? flaws in the reasoning which lead the argument to failure.

Kant claimed that ? isn’t a characteristic and so can’t be used as a descriptor of God.
