Q

How does vegetation remove pollutants from the environment?

A

-Absorbing other air pollutants during photosynthesis.
-Instead of being suspended in the air, small particles are intercepted by leaves then washed down to the ground when it rains.
-Wetland plants improve water quality by trapping suspended materials and absorbing excess nutrients in the water.

Q

What are some examples of how people and nature can bring disadvantages to each other?

A

-Hiking along trails in nature areas which compact soil, preventing rainwater from infiltrating the surface which results in high surface flows, which in turn leads to greater soil erosion.
-When visitors veer off trials, they trample on vegetation, damaging plants and affecting their growth. The problem gets worse when the soil gets compacted, preventing air, water, and roots from penetrating
