What are some factors affecting tourism?

A

Economy - when times are good, more people travel because they have more discretionary income
Technological impacts - methods of transportation have become faster and more fuel efficient. Developments in information technology means that travel options and arrangements can be made almost instantly.
Political stability - people tend to stay away from areas of political unrest (wars, terrorism, high crime rates..)
Demography - the scientific study of human populations including their size, composition, movement, growth rates, distribution, or density.
Natural disasters and hazards- floods, droughts, hurricanes, volcanoes…
Pandemics- diseases, viruses…
