What is poaching?
The illegal hunting, trapping and killing of wildlife
What is culling?
The planned selection and killing of wildlife by authorities trying to maintain a healthy ecosystem
What is Savannah?
Open tropical, or sub-tropical grassland with scattered trees and shrubs
What is a physical region?
An area defined by common physical features such as landforms, climate and vegetation
what does subtropical mean?
The region immediately north of the Tropic of Cancer at 23 1/2° N and south of the Tropic of Capricorn at 23 1/2° S Climate here had a distinct winter and summer season, but the climate is warmer than in middle latitudes
What is sustainable use?
A conservation strategy in which a renewable resource is used or harvested at a rate permitting the resource to replenish itself
What are cities?
Multiple large towns, referring to an urban area
what is a peripheral?
existing on the outer edge or external boundary
What is a deferred destination?
A desirable travel destination not experienced to date. A deferred destination is like saying you’ll go there someday, it’s a place you’ll keep putting off until you eventually get there
what is park zoning?
a land-use management tool that identifies where activities can occur in a park. Zoning tries to separate incompatible activities and group suitable activities
what is ecotourism?
Tourism that has little impact on the environment
What is a tourist?
A visitor who stays in a location for more than 24 hours (overnight) but less than a year
What is a travel barrier?
A factor that prevents or hinders people from travelling
What is cultural tourism?
Tourism designed to help people experience an areas history, folklore, religion, customs, music, art, values etc
What is social tourism?
Travel that involves the company of others, such as tour-bus travel or family visits
