What are amoeba?

It is a microscopic organism that lives at the bottom of shallow freshwater ponds and streams. (they can be found in salt water too)

Describe the size of amoeba
A
Each amoeba consists of just a single cell about 0.1 mm in diameter

How do amoeba get their food? Heterotrophic or autotrophic, etc..
A
It is heterotrophic and is omnivorous, i.e. it eats other single-celled protists, plants and animals

What is important to remember about amoeba?
A
They can carry out all the life processes of larger organisms, even though it is only a single cell
