Intro To TS Flashcards
What are the 5 sections of TS?
- Use and application 2. Safety limits 3. LCOs 4. Design features 5. Admin controls
List the safety limits.
- Fuel centerline temperature (modes 1 and 2)
- DNBR ratio (modes 1 and 2)
- PT limits (modes 1 and 2)
- RCS pressure < 2750# (modes 1-5)
What section of TS includes fuel storage requirements?
Design Features
What section of TS includes staffing and procedure requirements?
Admin Controls
What actions are required if RCS pressure at 2800#, power at 100% and reactor failed to trip?
Restore pressure < 2750#, mode 3 within 1 hour and notify NRC in 1 hour.
What actions are required if RCS pressure at 2755#, reactor tripped and RCS temperature at 300 degrees F?
Restore RCS pressure within 5 minutes and notify NRC in 1 hour.
List the modes of operation.
1-6
What is the difference in a channel calibration and a channel check?
Calibration is adjustment while check is observation of proper operation.
What is the formula for quadrant power tilt?
QPT = 100 * ((power in quadrant/avg power of all quadrants) - 1)
What is the definition of SD Margin?
Amount of rx that reactor is subcritical assuming all rods inserting except for rod with highest rod worth stuck out.
What actions are required when LCO 3.0.3 is met?
Within 1 hour - Mode 3 in 7 hours - Mode 4 in 13 hours - Mode 5 in 37 hours
What is LCO 3.0.5 used for?
Equipment OOS or testing to prove operability of inoperable component
What frequency are surveillance requirements required to be performed within per SR 3.0.2?
1.25x specified frequency
If surveillance was discovered not performed during specified frequency how long can applicable LCO entry be delayed per SR 3.0.3?
Up to 24 hours or specified frequency of SR whichever is greater.
What is the applicability for TS 3.2.3 and 3.2.4 (Imbalance and QPT)?
Imbalance is applicable when power > 40% and QPT when power > 20%.
