intro to the body Flashcards
dorsiflexion and plantarflexion
what is the system of the skin
integumentary system
eccrine sweat glands
water and some electrolytes, all skin
apocrine sweat glands
lipid/ protein rich (axillae, perineal area, genital)
langers lines
specific lines of tension within the skin
what does pleural relate to
lungs
what does pericardial relate to
heart
2 layers of the lubricating membranes around organs
visceral is inner layer, parietal outer layer
2 layers of cells that form from the inner cell mass in a developing zygote
epiblast and hypoblast
gastrulation
when epiblast forms a
3 layer (trilaminar) disc (ectoderm, mesoderm, endoderm)
mesoderm in the embryo
develops into 3 distinct parts (paraxial, intermediate and lateral plate mesoderm)
lateral plate mesoderm
divided into parietal and visceral layer by the development of intra embryonic coelom (forms a horseshoe shape around the developing head)
axial skeleton
everything but limbs
appendicular skeleton
limbs ,clavicle, scapula, hip bones
ganglia
sites of synapsing
how is the CNS protected
meninges
3 layers (dura mater, arachnoid mater, pia mater)
spinal nerves serve…
dermatomes (sensory) and myotomes (motor)
autonomic nervous system
sympathetic and parasympathetic (self governing)
sympathetic nervous system
fight or flight (allows all blood to go to heart, lungs) causes adrenaline (exits CNS at tharaco, lumbar nerves)
parasympathetic nervous system
rest and digest (allows blood to go to limbs etc.) when resting (exits CNS at cranial, sacral nerve)
