Arrow over brachial artery
Arm at patient's level of heart
Use the diaphragm
Patients arm needs to be relaxed
Inflate cuff
First sound is systolic. Last is diastolic
Korotkoff sounds
deflate cuff
remove cuff

Deep tendon reflex of patellar tendon

Answer 2

Find patellar tendon
Strike tendon with reflex hammer to elicit DTR
Check bilaterally
Femoral N.

Question 3

Percussion

Answer 3

Flattens fingers of one hand over thorax
Strikes distal knuckle with fingers of other hand to elicit sound
Check bilaterally at the same level

Question 4

Check for pupillary reflex

Answer 4

Light from opthalmoscope or otoscope
Look for pupils to constrict on both sides
Bilaterally checked

Snellen Test

Answer 5

Tests visual acuity
20/20 is normal
Hold the chart 14 inches away from face and read at least two lines
Examine each eye separately and both eyes together
