• began with a jewish man called jesus who lived in first century CE in palastine & travelled around country preaching & healing the sick
• followers believed he was god’s son
• views caused trouble with jewish leaders & asked romans to execute him
• roman governor sentenced him to be crucified
• christians believe god brought jesus back to life
• had chosen 12 to be his disciples
• after 20yrs broke away from jewish religion and started a new one which was christianity to celebrate teachings of jesus christ
