what is conduct & why is it important to christians
A
- you show good conduct if you follow teaching of Christ
- important as shows they’re following in Jesus’ footsteps & get into heaven
- brings reward of heaven
- Jesus’ sermon on Mount shows good conduct glorifies God -> “your good works give glory to your father who is in heaven” matthew 5:16

- protestants following DCT believe action is morally good if commanded by god
- those following NML following Aquinas where moral values understood from human nature by applying human reason
- those following situation ethics focus on law of agape apply this situationally

diff views on what good conduct is
A
- some moral commands in bible now seen as immoral (Paul’s letter to Titus condoning slavery)
- some insist that good conduct isn’t matter of following rules for sake of reward/punishment but matter of doing right for right’s sake
- most christians accept atonement but there’s disagreement on what is needed to accept this and how to accept kingdom of god

- god made covenant with abraham where he promised him children and when god revealed that he wanted isaac (the kid) as a sacrife he had did so
- travelled without telling isaac what was to happen
- at last second god said to stop as he knew that abraham had put his faith into god

-righteousness cannot be earned by following law as all humans have sinned - paul states that people are justified by faith ‘apart’ from the law
