What is the arm?
Upper part or upper limb- torso to elbow
What is the forearm?
Middle part of upper limb- elbow to wrist
What is the thigh?
Upper part of lower limb- pelvis to knee
What is the leg?
Middle part of lower limb- knee to ankle
What is the anatomical position?
Standing person- feet on floor, facing forwards, arm by sides, palms facing forwards
Superior?
Above- brain is superior to heart
Inferior?
Below- pelvis is inferior to thorax
Anterior/Ventral?
Front- nose is anterior to ears
Posterior/Dorsal?
Back- spine is posterior to sternum
Medial?
Closer to mid line
Lateral?
Further from midline
Proximal?
Closer to origin
Distal?
Further from origin
Ipsilateral?
Same side
Contralateral?
Opposite
Supine?
Position- lying down, flat on back, facing up
Prone?
Lying down, on front, facing down
Cranial?
Towards head
Caudal?
Towards tail
Rostral?
Towards face
Coronal plane
Face on- crown
Saggital?
Side on- left and right side
Sagittarius arrow
Axial?
Transverse or horizontal
Skeleton- axial?
Central or core parts- skull, vertebral column, ribs, sternum
