Why do we speak the words of the Invocation at the beginning of worship?

a. We call on God by name because He promises to be present where 2 or 3 are gathered in His name.
b. It reminds us of our baptism and that God has made us part of His family the Body of Christ.

Answer 2

The Triune God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Are there 3 Gods or 1 God?

Answer 3

a. There is only 1 God but 3 persons (We don’t pretend to understand this)
b. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all God

What are some attributes or characteristics if God?

Answer 4

He is Omniscient(all-knowing), Omnipotent(all-powerful), Omnipresent (He can be in more than one place at a time), Just (He plays by the rule), Merciful, Forgiving, Faithful, Abounding in Love

Why do we gather for worship?

a. It is where God meets us with His gifts of Word and Sacrament
b. We get to pray to God. We confess sins, give thanks, ask for mercy, and praise His name
c. We get to be encouraged by other Christians
