What did the Columbia Obstruction Device experiment prove?

A

It proved a direct co-relation between Shock and Cheese Size. i.e if the shock is more and cheese is small the users will not go for it. whereas if the cheese is huge, even if there is some shock involved, the users will overcome the shock to get the cheese.

Q

Explain Power of Relativity with respect to UX.

A

Everything is relative for the user. Eg : if the user is said to pay Rs. xxx annually for insurance. it may seem like a big amount. But if the user is told to pay Rs. x per day, which compared to his daily food cost, daily travel cost, etc seems like a small amount, chances of them buying it increases.

Q

When developing codes and commands, what should you avoid? and Why?

A

Avoid those that use the same finger twice in a row.

Because while typing using the same finger twice throws skilled typists off their rhythm and slows them down and they tend to make more errors.

It is faster when you alternate hands.

Q

What is the best menu type?

A

Index menu layout yields faster search than horizontal or vertical cascading menu layouts.

Horizontal layout was the poorest performer.

However choosing the best menu layout is always contextual and will always depend on the type of need in the design.

Q

Serif vs. Sans Serif Typefaces : Which is faster to read?

A

No difference in readability.

  1. Typeface is most critical : Serif and Sans serif are equally legible. What is more imp is the actual typeface you choose.
  2. Preference over actual performance : It is more of a preference issue than a performance issue.
  3. Use popular typefaces : Use standard typeface like Times new roman, ariel or verdana.
