Genetic inheritance inborn from parents such as genes/ biological maturation inheritance

Each individual is influenced differently.
Example, a kid can get diabetes because of genetics vs a kid who is unhealthy and got diabetes
Differential susceptibility
People differ in sensitivity of any particular experience (often do to genes)
Difference Equals - Deficit Error
False belief that deviation from norm is inferior
Socioeconomic Status (SES)
A persons position in society determined by income, occupation,education and residence
Critical period
A time when something must happen for normal development to occur. (A humans limbs began to form between 28 to 54 days after conception)
What are ideas built by society ?
Culture: group of people who share the same beliefs, behaviors, and expectations
Ethnic: people whose ancestors were born in the same reaction
Race: a group of regarded by themselves or others based appearance
Discontinuity
Change can occur rapidly and dramatically / abrupt
Continuity
Growth can be gradual
Sensitive period
A time when something develops more easily although change can occur later on with difficulty.
Cohort
Born within a certain historical period and move through life together.
Ex: my graduation class
Plasticity
Human traits can be modeled but still maintain a certain durability
