A map is a symbolised representation of geographical
reality, representing selected features or characteristics,
resulting from the creative effort of its author’s execution
of choices, and is designed for use when spatial
relationships are of primary relevance

a multi function tool; For both geographers and cartographers, the map
has served in various roles; as archive for geo-referenced data, as picture of the spatial order of the world, as tool for investigating spatial relations,
and as an object of aesthetic and historical
interest.
