Intro Flashcards
1
Q
How does ATP give energy
A
Hydrolysed releasing energy for biological processes
2
Q
What are some uses of energy?
A
Active transport
Endocytosis Exocytosis Synthesis of molecules DNA replication Movement
3
Q
Why is ATP a good molecule for holding energy
A
Stable, doesn’t break down into ADP and Pi when in solution and it is readily hydrolysed by catalysis, and can be easily moved from place to place within a cell.
4
Q
What happens when ATP is hydrolysed
A
Forms ADP + Pi and releases a small amount of energy. This energy can be heat.
