Intrinsic Sub-Occipital Muscles Flashcards
Origin of the Rectus capitis posterior major?
Spinous process of C2
Insertion of Rectus capitis posterior major?
Occipital bone (inferior nuchal line, middle third)
Innervation of Rectus capitis posterior?
C1 (posterior ramus = sub occipital nerve)
Action of Rectus capitis posterior?
Bilateral: extends head
Unilateral: rotates head to same side (rotates ipsilateral)
Origin of Rectus Capitis posterior minor?
C1 (posterior tubercle)
Insertion of rectus capitis posterior minor?
Occipital bone (inferior nuchal line, inner third)
Origin of obliquus capitis superior?
C1 (transverse process)
Insertion of Obliquus capitis superior?
Occipital bone (inferior nuchal line, middle third; above rectus capitis posterior major)
Action of Obliquus capitis superior?
Bilateral: extends head
Unilateral: tilts head to same side (ipsilateral lateral flexion); rotates to opposite side (rotates contralateral)
Origin of Rectus capitis posterior major?
C2 (spinous process)
Origin of Obliquus capitis inferior?
C2 (spinous process)
Insertion of Obliquus capitis inferior?
C1 (transverse process)
Action of Obliquus capitis inferior?
Bilaeral: extends head
Unilateral: rotates head to same side (rotates ipsilateral)
Innervation of Obliquus capitis?
C1 (posterior ramus = sub occipital n.)
