Intrinsic muscles of the back
A
These are three parallel groups or
columns called sacrospinalis or erector spinal muscle
They are named depending on location
N- They are all supplied by the dorsal rami of
the spinal nerves.

A
Deep to the sacrospinalis muscle
- Multifidus muscle (most robust in the lumbar region) at the lumbosacral curvature
- Interspinalis muscle
- Intertransversarii muscle (between the transverse processes)
- Rotators- Short (brevis), Long (longus)
- Semispinalis muscle (in the neck region)
