columns called sacrospinalis or erector spinal muscle

They are named depending on location

N- They are all supplied by the dorsal rami of
the spinal nerves.

Transverso-spinalis muscles

A

Deep to the sacrospinalis muscle

  • Multifidus muscle (most robust in the lumbar region) at the lumbosacral curvature
  • Interspinalis muscle
  • Intertransversarii muscle (between the transverse processes)
  • Rotators- Short (brevis), Long (longus)
  • Semispinalis muscle (in the neck region)
