Potassium chloride
A
Potassium depletion and hypokalaemia can be caused by: diarrhoea, vomiting, drugs (e.g. loop and thiazide diuretics) and secondary hyperaldosteronism. Given alongside chloride because it promotes potassium ion retention in serum. If given alongside glucose instead then it can tigger insulin release, stimulating Na+/K+ ATPase, shifting potassium in cells
