What occurs here?
What are the signs of it?
➊ Foetus not growing as expected due to a pathology that’s reducing the amount of nutrients and oxygen being delivered
➋ • Small foetus
• Oligohydramnios
• Reduced foetal movements
• Abnormal doppler or CTG studies
What are the placenta-mediated causes?
What are the non-placenta mediated causes?
➊ • Idiopathic
• Pre-eclampsia
• Maternal smoking and alcohol
• Anaemia
• Malnutrition
• Infection
➋ • Genetic abnormalities
• Structural abnormalities
• Foetal infection
• Errors of metabolism
What are the short-term complications?
What are the long-term complications?
➊ Stillbirth, Birth asphyxia, Neonatal hypothermia/hypoglycaemia
➋ CVD, T2DM, Obesity, Mood/behavioural problems
