Intraspecific Relationship
Competition between members of the same species due to having identical ecological niches, therefore require the same resources for survival
Altruism
Behaviours that benefit others at the expensive of oneself
Kin Selection
Altruism mechanism to benefit the fitness of related organisms that share genes
Agonistic Behaviour
Aggressive behaviour specific to intraspecific competition for resources for survival or reproduction, without causing injury or death
Sexual Dimorphism
Physical differences between male and females of the same species
Dominance Hierarchy
Organisation of individuals in a group according to their social rank
Alpha Individual
Highest ranked
Omega Individual
Lowest ranked
Linear Hierarchy
No two individuals share a similar social ranking, all either dominant or submissive to each other
Complex Hierarchy
Several individuals from similar social rankings form a ranked group
Home Range
The total area the animal lives and travels for resources (food supply, nesting, water and other valuable resources)
Territory
A geographical area that an individual marks and defends containing nesting area

Actions taken to defend and maintain the territory from others of the same species
