into to biological molecules Flashcards
information about hydrogen bonds and where would you find hydrogen bonds in an environment?
electrons are not evenly distributed, single bond is weak, but collectively strong. Found in DNA and water.
what are the long chains of monomers known as
Polymers
what are some examples of polymers that are made naturally
Polynucleotide- DNA
Polypeptide- protein
Polysaccaride- carbohydrate
what are the features of a proton
positively charged, found in the nucleus
what are the features of a neutron
no charge, found in the nucleus
what is the features of electrons
negatively charged, found on shells
what happens when an atom loses an electron
The atom becomes positively charged
why would you use a volumetric flask
its more accurate
what is the method to make up 1M NaCl Solution
1Gather the equipment: Beaker, mass balance, distilled water, salt, volumetric flask.
2. Pour 250 Ml of water into a beaker
3.Weigh 14.6g of salt using your mass balance, make sure the mass balance is on 0
4. Add the salt to the watering the beaker, and mix thoroughly.
5 pour the solution into the volumetric flask.
6 Make sure the meniscus is in line with the water.
what is a condensation reaction
when two molecules join together with the formation of a chemical bond and involves the elimination of a molecule of water.
what is a hydrolysis reaction
breaks a chemical bond between two molecules and involves the use of water.
what type of reaction is sucrose into sucrase
a hydrolysis reaction
what type of reaction is fructose and glucose into sucrose
condensation reaction
