Interview Questions Flashcards
Why do you want to be a PTA instead of a PT?
With the exception of examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and discharge, PTA complete all aspects of a PT’s role (intervention, coordination, communication, documentation, and education).
A PTA can graduate in 2 years and become licensed and begin working in the field.
It takes about 7 years of education to become a practicing PT.
The PTA works under the supervision of a PT, the responsibilities and roles of the PTA and PT promote a work environment of support and guidance.
What did you get out of your observations?
- Outpatient orthopedic clinic: Strong relationship building is a critical aspect of desired results.
- Pediatric Home Care: Therapist must engage in lifelong learning to refine knowledge, skills, and their abilities to educate and assist patients and their family members.
- Inpatient acute care: Profession is tied to other healthcare roles that all contribute to a focus on the patients’ whole well being.
Why do you want to be a PTA?
I care deeply about healthy living, including human movement and physical function, as it relates to a long and happy life. I want to avoid dependency on medication and quick fixes, like popping a back once a month, and shift the focus to promoting independence by taking care of individual health. I am excited to continue exploring physical therapy because I find that this field can help people live healthier lives through education and treatment to prevent and heal injury, illness, functional limitation, and disability. Through my volunteer experiences and observations of physical therapists and physical therapist assistants, I gather that I can pursue my goals and use my attributes of compassion, altruism, and good communication for a better purpose. Meanwhile, being a physical therapist assistant will allow me to incorporate my passions of fitness, wellness, and continual learning as I strive to live a healthy lifestyle and aid others in learning how to do the same.
