Interview - Behavour Based Questions Flashcards
When have you been involved in a task that had a deadline?
Work : Collage LEARJET Maintanance
- Yes, I have REGULARLY been involved in tasks that have a Deadline.
- A Good example being the Aircraft Maintenance Basic Course Days where me and my team of 3 were assigned regularly to INSPECT and MAINTAIN the LEARJET 25 which was parked in our hangar and and IDENTIFY any damage.
- These tasks were needed to be done early morning within an hours time so that the Juniors could learn on the after.
- I and MY TEAM would plan our steps by first FOCUSING on the parts most sussiptable to damage during working on the aircraft.
- Also check the previous work logs on what the juniors have worked on and inspect those parts for any possible damage.
- If there is a FINDING of a damaged part, Me and my team would make a report on the Aircraft Log and I being the COORDINATOR would need to make a detailed report of the finding and submit it within an hour.
- This used to go on Weekly, once or Twice. and we have never been late and always recieved prases from the instructors.
- Sometimes we would finish our task befoe the given deadline.
An occasion when you worked successfully in a team environment.
Work : Jacking of the Aircraft
- Being an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Student, I woud more than Occasionally be involved in a Team Environment.
- One example being Aircraft Jacking.
- Aircraft Jacking requires 2 People to be STATIONED on the all the jacks of the aircaft which woud include the FWD FUSALAGE, Port Wing and Starboard Wing.
- I would be the marshal most of the time given my ABILITY TO GIVE CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS to my colleagues as this task required PERFECT SYNCHRONYZATION and leveling of the aiecraft.
- I would blow the Whistle ONCE and my Teamates stationed at the jacks need to pump the jacks twice.
- If the pumps were successful on all the 3 Jack positions of the aircraft, the particular Teammember incharge of that jack position woud give a HAND QUEUE stating that everything is going good and great.
- If there was any INPUT froma Teammember of an issue from any side. I would immediatly CEASE the jacking process until the issue is RECTIFIED. Assuring the Safety of the aircraft.
- This is one of the OCCASIONS I have Worked Successfully in a Team Environment.
A time you had difficulty working with a colleague.
Work : Final Year Project
- Yes, during my class Leadership roll I have been quiet a few times that I have had difficulty working with a colleague.
- One of the lastest event being the time i had to complete my final year project.
- We were a group of 5 people and I was voted as the project leader.
- Our project was based on building a VHF/UHF Tranciever with a SELCAL function.
- I made sure that I allocate all the members tasks which they are feel they can accomplish it in the given time.
- There was one member who confidently requested me to assign him one of the most labour intensive tasks (I will call him Colleague A) and he CLAIMED he could do it.
- I was a little Sceptical of him doing this task and that was to make a 3D Model on CAD from the given Part Dimensions.
- The Deadline for our work was 5 Days and 3 of my Collagues accomplished their work by the given time and were all waiting on Colleague A. I tried Following up with him and approaching him for an update on the task but he simply daid he lost interest and wanted nothing to do with his task anymore.
- I was quiet astonished with his behaviour as he showed great ENTHUSIASM during the time he wanted the toughest job, but now doesn’t care a damn.
- So with this being a group project, I did not want my fellow colleagues to to be affected by his commotion so i rather assigned him the task of painting and labelling the final product which is relatively simple compared to the other tasks, rather than REMOVING him form the team.
- This is an example of a time i had Difficulty in working with one of my Colleague.
When you had to change your communication style to suite your audience.
Work : Working with AVIATION MANAGEMENT STUDENTS and AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING STUDENTS
- During my Bachelors I had to COLLABORATE with the Aviation Mangement Students for a particular task.
- The task being to Design a Program to access Maintenance Manuals.
- Now during this project we came across a challange that the Aviation Managament Students had no technical knowledge behind maintenance manuals but were required to design the flowchart helping in easy access of the contents.
- We worked together by making Technical Data more simple by using Simplified Technical Language. Ensuring that we are AWARE of what we are working towards and COMMUNICATIONG through every Step of the way.
- Ultimately Reaching a Common Goal and that was to Excel in the Project we were given.
- This is a time I had to Change my communication Style to suite my audiance.
When have you not performed to your Personal expectations.
Work: 2nd Semester Project
- During the 2nd Semester AME Practical Tests, i was assigned the task to THOROUGHLY Inspect the Hydraulic System of the Learjet 25.
- I Inspected the Hydraulic System by first doing a Walk around check of its different components such as the actuators, pins, grommets and Hydraulic Lines, then proceeded to the hydraulic oil panel to inspect the Oil pressure and the Quantity. I then went on to check all the components individually linking the system while I also make a Detailed Report of them.
- Once completed I tallied my information with the AMM and then presented it to my instructor.
- My instructor was quiet impressed of the report I presented to him given that we were JUST INTRODUCED the topic of HYDRAULIC SYSTEM but also pointed out a few places I missed out and some inspections not done adequately.
- I still managed to pass the Test but was disappointed in myself that I did to meet my set of PERSONAL EXPECTATIONS.
- But I ensured after that I corrected my mistake my learning deeper about the topic so that I could fare better the next test. And was Successful the next test.
- This would be one of the time I have not performed to my Own Set Personal Expectations.

Work : Setting up my UHF
- During the time I was setting up my UHF Radio There was a lot of noticeable noise picked up by the Radio.
- It was because of my WIFI Router Overlapping the current radio frequency.
