What are the UC’s responsibilities for booking an interventional at another hospital

A
  1. Phone the x-Ray dept
  2. State test ordered, give pertinent info. They will give you a date & time for the pt to be at the hospital & a return time
  3. In red ink, write the date, time & which hospital test is at beside physicians order
  4. Book ambulance if necessary
  5. Fill in info on kardex (x-Ray ordered, place/time/date of x-Ray etc)
  6. Complete the req and attach it to the pts chart

List some of the general preparation patients may require for Interventional

A
  1. Sign a consent form
  2. Pre operative meds may be ordered
  3. Antibiotics sometimes
  4. An IV may be started
  5. Shave prep
  6. Pt may be NPO/clear fluids a day before an examination
  7. Bowel prep day before examination
  8. Blood tests
  9. ECG
  10. The pt chart & addressograph plate accompany the pt
