What was the most challenging task of the treaty negotiations and why?
The entry into force provision was the most challenging task. The final formula agreed included 44 states, known as Annex 2 States, that possessed nuclear power or research reactors. The remaining 8 countries are prove to be most chalk gong hurdle for the Treaty (China, India, Pakistan, Iran, Egypt, Israel, North Korea and the USA)
What mechanisms does the CTBT use to promote entry into force of the Treaty?
Apart from outreach activities, the CTBTO also organizes seminars, workshops. The most important for the entry into force is the Article XIV conference– in according with relevant treaties. The ninth Article XIV happened in NY in 2015 and takes place bi-annually.
How many countries have signed/rarified the treaty
183 countries have signed the treaty and 164 have ratified it out of a total of 196 States.

The H- bomb, called Castle Bravo, used on the Marshall Islands 60 years ago (1954) continue to affect the island.
