RECOVERY
MISSION: aims to building disaster resilient communities by promoting increased awareness of the importance of disaster reduction as an integral component of the sustainable development with goal of reducing human, social, economic, and environmental losses due to natural hazards and related technological and environmental disaster
ISDR - International Strategy For Disaster Reduction
is a crucial protocol used byemergency medical services(EMS) to evaluate trauma victims quickly. Its primary goal is to identify bothhidden and obvious injuriesthat may not have been immediately apparent during the initial assessment. By promptly recognizing and treatingimmediate life-threatening conditions, responders can provide critical care and stabilize the patient.
RAPID TRAUMA ASSESSMENT (RTA)
If the patient isresponsive, ask questions to determine their level of alertness and orientation (using the A&O scale: Alert and Oriented to Person, Place, Time, and Event).
If the patient appearsunresponsive, attempt to establish responsiveness by shaking and yelling. Use the AVPU scale to describe their level of consciousness (A - Alert, V - Verbal response, P - Pain response, U - Unresponsive).
MENTAL STATUS ASSESSMENT
Circulationtakes priority in cases of major, life-threatening hemorrhage. Address any issues found with the patient’s airway, breathing, or circulation promptly.
Remember the ABCs:
Airway: Ensure the airway is clear and open.
Breathing: Assess breathing and address any abnormalities.
Circulation: Check for signs of severe bleeding and manage it immediately
