What are the terminal branches of the ICA?
Anterior and middle cerebral arteries.
What are the parts of the ICA?
Cervical, petrous, cavernous and cerebral.
What lies superficial to the ICA?
ECA and all relations to it deep and superficial.
What structures lie deep to the ICA?
Superior laryngeal nerve, sympathetic chain, ascending pharyngeal artery and the wall of the pharynx.
How many branches are there in the neck from the ICA?
None.
Where does the petrous part of ICA exit?
Foramen lacerum.
What are the branches of the petrous part of ICA?
Caroticotympanic artery and artery of pterygoid canal.
Where does the cavernous part of ICA leave the cavernous sinus?
Through the anterior part of its roof.
What are the branches of the cavernous part of ICA?
Inferior hypophyseal artery for the posterior lobe of pituitary gland.
What are the branches of the cerebral part of ICA?
Ophthalmic, anterior choroidal, anterior cerebral, middle cerebral and posterior communicating artery.
What’s the benefit of the bends of the ICA?
It dampens any sudden rise of pressure.
