Present Conditionel

A

Use it in:

  • Theoretical statements containing [si] + [the imperfect], or contrary to fact statements.
  • Future actions in the past, or [past tense] + [que…] + [present conditional]
  • To demonstrate politeness

Conjuguation: Beginning of [futur simple] + [r if “i’’ is immediately after] + [imparfait ending]

Ex: Je dirais

Imparfait:

A

Use “Nous” conjugation of verb with “ons” removed + endings of conditionel present

Use it in:

  • Incomplete actions
  • Describing someone or something in the past
  • Relating to a repeated action

You can use it in:

  • What was happening while something else was happening (or happened)
