What is a radiant barrier?

A

Thin sheets or panels with a bright metallic foil to block transmission of infrared heat. Installed over rafters are studs beneath the sheathing. They must be put in place during the framing of the building and are only effective if the bright service of the barrier faces a ventilated airspace.
