Contraindications

A
  • Cardiac pacemaker or unstable arythmica
  • Carrotid sinus
  • Areas of venous or arterial thrombosis

  • No stimulated muscle contraction for pain control When contraction can disrupt healing

  • cardiac disease
  • Impared mentation or sensation
  • Malignant tumour
  • Skin irritation or open wounds
  • Low rate Tens can cause DOMS
  • Because of pain relief, patient may easily do activities that aggravate symptoms

A
  • frequency → 100-150 Hz
  • Pulse duration → 50-80 us
  • Pattern/ swing → 6^6
  • Intensity → Comfortable, ti ngling sensation, Increase intensity after 5 minutes
  • treatment time → 20-30 minutes
    → a4 hours or until pain subsides

Low Rate (chronic) treat ment parameter settings

A
  • Frequency → 2-10 Hz
  • pulse duration → 150 - 300 us
    _ Pattern/swing → 1/1 or 6/6
  • intensity → Must get visible contraction, increase intensity after 5 minutes
  • Treatment time → 20-30 minutes but not longer than 4s minutes
