Q

Explain how particular adaptations help animal to survive in their habitats.

A

For example a polar bear has thick fur which is a good insulator which allows it to survive as they live in a very cold environment which means they need that fur to keep warm.

Q

Describe how distribution of organisms can change when the environment changes

A

The non-living factors that can effect the population of organisms are: temperature, nutrients, rainfall and pollution.
Living factors: Competition, predators and disease.

Q

Explain how lichens and invertebrates can be used as indicator species

A

Lichens give and indication of air pollution and invertebrates give an indication of water pollution

Q

Describe how we can use equipment to measure oxygen levels, temperature and rainfall

A

Rainfall is measured using a rain gauge. The depth of rain is usually measured daily. An ordinary thermometer can be used to measure the temperature in an environment. Oxygen levels in water can be measured using oxygen probes. These are often connected to a data logger.
