  • patient in treatment groups showed lower symptom levels than those in control group
  • suggesting interactionalist has better outcomes

  • treatment causation fallacy
  • just because using range of treatments is effective, doesn’t mean interactionalist approach is correct
  • because we don’t know how diathesis stressors interact, we don’t know why combining treatments is effective
  • questioning validity of adopting this approach
