What is intelligence?

General Intelligence (g)
a person’s overall mental capacity that influences specific abilities
Fluid Intelligence (Gf)
using pre-existing knowledge or experience to solve problems in unfamiliar contexts
When does fluid intelligence peak?
increases in adolescence then gradually declines
Crystallized Intelligence (Gc)
using learned knowledge and experience to solve problems or make decisions
When does crystallized intelligence peak?
increases with age and as more life experience is gained
What is Savant Syndrome
a condition where someone with a developmental disorder has above-average skills in a specific area

the ability to perceive, understand, manage, and utilize emotions
