What cells are within the epidermis?
Keratinocytes melanocytes, langerhans cells and Merkel cells
What is the process in which cells move up, they change shape and chemical composition because they lose most of their water and die. The cells become filled with keratin, a protein material.

This layer has several prickly shaped cells that are polyhedral in structure. Desmosome are still quite active

Epidermis can only rejuvenate itself if this layer is intact
New cells are formed they go under Morphologic and nuclear changes as they get pushed upward by dividing cells underneath them
